F.I.S.T. focuses on approximately 80% empty hands and 20% weapons training. As our students have progressed through the core requirements of F.I.S.T. and delved into the weapons work many of them have requested more training in this area. With that in mind we have developed BLAST - Blade & Stick combat training.
BLAST will focus on approximately 80% stick & knife training and only 20% empty hands. The techniques in BLAST have been taken from Nick’s training with some of the world’s leading instructors in the Filipino combat systems. They include but are not limited to Bob Breen in the UK, Jeff Espinous of Germany, (formerly in France), Tuhon Bill McGrath of the Pekiti Tersia system, Ray Dianaldo of Filipino Combat Systems, Harold Evans of Filipino Combat Systems, Frank Hesse of Balintawak, Hock Hocheim of Scientific Fighting Congress, David Ng of Modern Arnis to name but a few.
THE STICK - or baston as it’s known in the Philippines - is made of rattan and in combat can be replaced with any field expedient weapon of similar length or heft. Examples include umbrellas, flashlights, chair legs, walking sticks, expandable batons, baseball bats etc.
THE BLADE - or daga as it’s known in the Filipino systems - can be double or single edged, small like a tactical folder or large like a machete. As a field expedient weapon the blade can be found almost everywhere...on aircraft, in restaurants, in the home or in the hands of an attacker.
When one considers that almost eighty percent of the world’s population carries and fights with bladed weapons it makes perfect sense to train how to use and deal with edged weapons.
You’ll learn how to...
| Use a Single Stick |
Use a Blade |
Use Double Sticks |
| Use a Stick & Knife |
Disarm |
Use Empty Hands |
